Rudy Isaak

Rudy C. Isaak (1935-2025), PEng, Past President of EGM

Rudy Corny Isaak was born in 1935 in Winnipeg, one of nine children of Gerhard and Maria Isaak.

Education

Rudy attended the University of Manitoba from 1954 to 1959, receiving his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1959.

Early Career - Templeton Engineering

Following graduation, Rudy worked for a short time with the Highways Department of the Province of Manitoba. He returned to the University of Manitoba in 1960 for two years, taking master courses, following which he joined Templeton Engineering in 1963. Rudy consulted on water and wastewater systems and roads in Winnipeg and throughout Manitoba.

ID Engineering Career

Templeton Engineering became I. D. Engineering in January 1979. Rudy became a partner of Templeton Engineering in 1966 and a shareholder in I.D. Engineering until leaving for Ininew Project Management in 1994. In the early 1980’s he managed I. D. Engineering’s office in Edmonton. From 1985 to 1994 Rudy specialized in water and wastewater systems in northern indigenous communities, developing a love of the north and its people. He spent the last 10 years of his career working for Ininew Project Management where he consulted on water and wastewater systems in northern indigenous communities and mentored young indigenous engineers.

Rudy retired in 2005.

Association Activities

Rudy Isaak enrolled in the Association of Professional Engineers of the Province of Manitoba (now EGM) in 1966. He made a significant contributions to the Social Committee, Bulletin Committee, Annual Meeting Committee, and the Public Relations Committee. He served on Council for four years, prior to holding the office of Vice President in 1980 and President in 1981.

Community Dedication

Rudy supported many local organizations and was a passionate Jets and Bombers fan. He was a member of the Winnipeg Winter Club where he played tennis and socialized. He was Board Chair of the Manitoba Museum from 1994 to 1996. Rudy and his family had a cottage at Victoria Beach where he sailed his Lazer sailboat including partaking in races. He played Golf at the Victoria Beach golf club and elsewhere. He and Gail were members of St. Mathews Anglican Church.

Personal Background

Rudy was married twice, first on September 2, 1961 to Kathleen Gail Greene and they had two daughters. After Gail passed he married Deloris Jarvis. He and Deloris travelled extensively including to Antarctica, the Panama Canal and Alaska.

Rudy Isaak died 20 September 2025.
